Ensembles

Wind Ensemble

The wind ensemble is the top performing concert band at MV. Students explore and perform the highest quality of wind ensemble literature. This ensemble is open to 10th-12th grade musicians through an audition done in the spring. This ensemble performs at local concerts as well as  various festivals and events throughout the year.

Symphonic Band

The symphonic band is a non-auditioned ensemble at MV comprised of 10-12th grade musicians. Students explore and perform intermediate level wind band literature. This ensemble performs at local concerts and 1-2 festivals and in the spring.

Concert Band

The concert band is the entry level concert band at MV comprised of mostly 9th grade musicians. Students explore intermediate wind band literature and develop their fundamental playing skills through daily work. This course prepares students to successfully join the symphonic band or wind ensemble after their freshman year. This ensemble performs at local concerts and 1-2 festivals and in the spring.

Chamber Orchestra

The chamber orchestra is the top performing string ensemble at MV. Students explore and perform the highest quality of string orchestra literature. This ensemble is open to string musicians through an audition done in the spring. This ensemble performs at local concerts as well as  various festivals and events throughout the year.

String Orchestra

The string orchestra is a non-auditioned ensemble at MV comprised of 9th-12th grade musicians. Students explore and perform intermediate level string orchestra literature. This ensemble performs at local concerts and 1-2 festivals and in the spring.

Percussion Ensemble

The percussion ensemble is a non-auditioned class for all of the percussionists at MV. Students explore a performa variety of percussion music, from pep band/drumline to advanced percussion ensemble repertoire. The ensemble has a long tradition of excellence as one of the premiere percussion programs in the Pacific Northwest with multiple state titles and local and national conference performances.

Jazz Band I

Jazz 1 is an auditioned group of advanced music students that uphold a long tradition of excellence as one of the best high school jazz bands in the Northwest. Students explore and perform the highest quality of jazz repertoire at local concerts and regional festivals as well as developing jazz improvisation skills. A winner of the prestigious sweepstakes awards at the Clark College jazz festival, the Bellevue jazz festival, and the Columbia Basin College festival, this group is open to 9th-12th grade students through an audition process the fall.

Jazz Band II

Jazz 2 is a non-auditioned jazz ensemble open to all interested instrumental musicians at Mountain View. Students explore and perform many different levels and styles of big band jazz, while exploring jazz improvisation. This group performs at local concerts and 1-2 jazz festivals per year.
